ISC2 2025

The BIPV-city team travelled to Patras, Greece for the 11th International Smart Cities Conference (ISC2 2025), on October 6 – 9!

Nikolaos Skandalos presented our work entitled “Digital Twins for Climate-Positive Cities”, in which we explore how Local Climate Zones (LCZs), Building-Integrated PV (BIPV), and Nature-based Solutions (NbS) can be integrated into Digital Twins to support context-specific strategies for decarbonization and climate resilience.

Ilias Kasmeridis presented our work “An open-access digital platform for exploring and optimizing building-integrated photovoltaics in climate-resilient urban environments”, in the “Resilient Smart Cities” track. In his presentation, he discussed the motivation behind the development of BIPV-city.gr, a novel open-access platform that integrates solar, climatic, and building data to support the bioclimatic design and optimization of building-integrated photovoltaics. He also described its core architecture, highlighting how the platform’s design and climate analysis modules enable stakeholders to simulate, assess, and enhance PV integration in urban environments through an intuitive web-based interface.
