Athanasios Tolis
Short bio
Athanasios Tolis is a Professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), in the Sector of Industrial Management & Operational Research. He has been teaching in NTUA undergraduate programs since 2003, and he also taught in the Athens MBA (AUEB-NTUA) postgraduate program between 2002–2003. The subjects he teaches include:

Operations Research I (linear programming, simulation, and network analysis)

Operations Research II (nonlinear optimization, stochastic mathematical programming, and evolutionary algorithms)

He has supervised over 100 diploma theses and doctoral dissertations, and is currently supervising many more. He has served as a member of academic selection committees for over 10 faculty appointments at various ranks, including serving on three-member evaluation committees.
He holds a PhD from the School of Mechanical Engineering at NTUA in the field of Operations Research. He graduated from the same school, specializing in Aeronautical Engineering.
His research interests focus on:

Optimization and reliability of energy systems
He has over 25 years of professional experience and has actively participated in more than 20 research projects with public and private organizations in Greece and Europe, as well as in collaborations with other universities and research institutions within various projects.
He has co-authored over 60 publications in scientific journals, book volumes, and conferences, and has contributed to the creation of supporting materials and lecture notes (both digital and printed) for his courses.
